Last week, Wakulla County hosted its first-ever ESE Expo for Families, bringing together local families to connect with valuable resources supporting students with exceptionalities.
The event was a wonderful success, with families learning about a wide range of organizations and programs, including Arts for All, Parents Offering Parents Information and Networking (POPIN), the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services & Technology (FAAST), the Florida Inclusion Network (FIN), the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD), SEDNET, the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resource System (FDLRS), Pre-K Exceptional Student Education (Pre-K ESE), The Family Cafe, Behavior Management Consultants (BMC), Bryter Way, New World Reading, and AbleNet.
Turnout and engagement reflected strong community interest, and the expo marked an important step in strengthening connections between Wakulla families and the resources available to support their children.

The Legacy Café is getting ready to open! ☕🍽️
On Monday, students in Wakulla Institute’s Graduate Deferment Program delivered Café menus to schools across the district. It’s one more way they’re helping prepare for opening day while gaining hands-on experience.

Internet service has been restored across Wakulla County Schools. Our IT Department continues troubleshooting remaining issues, and some users may experience intermittent internet disruptions while that work is ongoing.
Regular district and school phone lines are still not operational. Families should continue using the temporary phone numbers previously provided or contact their school-based administrator or identified point of contact by email.
Families needing Transportation assistance may call 850-926-5750 or email scott.payne@wcsb.us.
We would like families to know that the disruption was caused by a failure of the district’s main network switch. As our IT team worked to restore service, additional configuration issues delayed the return to full and stable connectivity. District data and systems remained secure throughout the outage.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as our IT team continues working toward full and reliable restoration of all services. We will share updates as additional progress is made.

From a first experience with a paintbrush or instrument to the stage, studio or marching field, arts education gives students opportunities to build confidence, develop discipline, collaborate with others and discover where their talents can take them.

PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION FOR SCHOOL-SPONSORED EVENTS
Wakulla County Schools is reminding families that students may request approval to use private transportation for athletic events, extracurricular activities, field trips and other school-sponsored events.
The required Parental Consent and Release of Liability for Private Transportation form must be completed, submitted to school administration at least 24 hours before the event, and approved by the school principal.
Requests involving a student driving themselves or riding with another adult require notarization.
A written note or sign-out sheet alone does not meet current policy requirements.

Serving up support for our War Eagles! 🦅🍝
Last Friday, our Wakulla County Schools Food Services team treated the War Eagle Football team to a special meal — complete with spaghetti, fresh salad and some seriously good-looking garlic rolls!
Our Food Services staff do so much more than prepare meals each school day. They are always finding ways to support our students, schools and programs, and this is just one more example of the care they bring to everything they do.
Thank you to our Food Services team for feeding our War Eagles and being such an important part of the WCS family!

From greeting students as they arrived to opening car doors and welcoming families, our guests jumped right into the excitement of the first morning alongside our school teams.
We appreciate Mr. Burns and Mr. Hay taking the time to visit Wakulla County and share in a day that means so much to our students, families, faculty, and staff.

While today’s routes were a little longer, and some buses were more crowded than others, we would like to celebrate that no bus left campus over capacity and all students arrived home safely.
In the coming days and weeks, our outstanding leadership team will work to balance routes to maximize efficiency, so please be aware of the potential for change to your student’s schedule so we can get more students to and from school quicker and safer.”
