Last Friday, our Wakulla County Schools Food Services team treated the War Eagle Football team to a special meal — complete with spaghetti, fresh salad and some seriously good-looking garlic rolls!
Our Food Services staff do so much more than prepare meals each school day. They are always finding ways to support our students, schools and programs, and this is just one more example of the care they bring to everything they do.
Thank you to our Food Services team for feeding our War Eagles and being such an important part of the WCS family!

Yesterday morning, Wakulla County Schools welcomed Florida Department of Education Senior Vice Chancellor Paul Burns and Executive Director of the Office of Safe Schools Tim Hay, who joined Superintendent Rick Myhre at Shadeville Elementary School and Riversprings Middle School to help kick off the first day of school.
From greeting students as they arrived to opening car doors and welcoming families, our guests jumped right into the excitement of the first morning alongside our school teams.
We appreciate Mr. Burns and Mr. Hay taking the time to visit Wakulla County and share in a day that means so much to our students, families, faculty, and staff.
There’s no better way to begin a new school year than together. Welcome back, Wakulla!

“Wakulla County Schools would like to give a huge shout-out and thank you to our bus drivers and van drivers for an amazing first day of school!
We recognize that every successful school district relies on a high-functioning transportation department, and ours is among the best.
While today’s routes were a little longer, and some buses were more crowded than others, we would like to celebrate that no bus left campus over capacity and all students arrived home safely.
In the coming days and weeks, our outstanding leadership team will work to balance routes to maximize efficiency, so please be aware of the potential for change to your student’s schedule so we can get more students to and from school quicker and safer.”

Last Thursday, July 23rd, our Wakulla County School Early Learning Program teamed up with FDLRS, 211 Help Me Grow, POPIN (Parents Offering Parents Information and Networking), Early Steps, CARD (Center for Autism and Related Disabilities), and the Early Learning Coalition to offer developmental screenings for children birth to 5!
Over 20 families visited the Wakulla County Community Center to get their little ones screened and connect with valuable community resources. 💙
Early intervention makes all the difference, and today was a beautiful example of our community coming together to support our youngest learners and their families!

Wakulla County Schools offers families two important tools to stay connected with their child’s teacher, school, and district.
Focus Parent Portal is available online and through the Focus mobile app. It gives families access to your child's information, including schedules, grades, attendance, report cards, teacher communication, and important forms such as Transportation Registration and the Annual Enrollment Update. Families should also review their Focus communication settings and preferences to verify their email address and manage available notifications and alerts. A Focus Parent Portal account is required.
The Wakulla County Schools app mirrors our district and school websites, providing convenient mobile access to school news, social media updates, staff information, event calendars, important documents, emergency push notifications, and more. Families and community members can follow multiple schools in one place. Tired of relying on social media algorithms to see important school updates? WHS–RMS and WHS–WMS routes remain available. Elementary routes will be available as soon as revisions are complete.
Families may still log in to the Focus Parent Portal and complete the Transportation Information form. Only the #1 Guardian listed in Focus will have access to the form.
