War Eagle Football Family,
On February 9th, Coach Klees made the bittersweet announcement that he would be stepping down as Head Coach after a truly legendary career. We are now actively planning appropriate recognitions for him as he has given so much to our entire community. Along with giving Coach Klees the send off he deserves, we would like to share the timeline for identifying the next Wakulla High School Head Football Coach.
The position will be posted on our district’s employment website from February 10-20, 2026. Interviews are expected to be conducted the week of February 23, 2026 with an announcement to be made the week of March 2, 2026 so it may be approved by the School Board on March 9, 2026. This timeline ensures the next coach is able to assume duties in time to properly prepare for spring practice and provide as seamless of a transition as possible.
Once again, thank you Coach for your service to our children (many of whom you helped turn into men). You’ll never be forgotten.
