Dear WCS Volunteers,
We want to share an important update regarding changes to Florida’s volunteer application requirements.
Due to recent legislative changes adopted by the Florida Legislature, Wakulla County Schools will temporarily pause the acceptance of new and renewal volunteer applications to revise our background screening procedures to comply with new state-mandated requirements.
What’s changing?
Effective for 2025-2026 school year, all school volunteers will be REQUIRED to complete a Level 2 background screening, which includes fingerprinting. This update comes as part of Florida Senate Bill 676.
All current and future volunteers will be required to complete the new Level 2 screening.
Please note: ALL Volunteers regardless of fingerprinting status MUST complete a volunteer application to proceed in the process.
