April 2025—Wakulla High School junior Troy Thaxton, son of James and Jennifer Thaxton, was selected by the Jake Pigott Memorial American Legion Post and Auxiliary 114 to represent Wakulla County at the prestigious Florida Boys State, held during the summertime at Florida State University.
Florida Boys State is a hands-on educational program that immerses high school students in the fundamentals of local, county, and state government. Participants campaign for leadership roles, run mock elections, and take part in simulations designed to teach the responsibilities and privileges of active citizenship.
Troy was chosen for his strong academic standing, leadership potential, and community involvement. At Boys State, he will join student representatives from across Florida in a week of rigorous training in government, law, and public service.
Wakulla High School proudly congratulates Troy on this outstanding achievement and commends him for representing the War Eagle community with excellence.
