Cosmetology Students

Since the start of the school year, Room 306 has transformed into more than just a classroom—it’s become a salon space where Wakulla High School students in the Cosmetology program learn how to enhance the beauty of others and boost their confidence The past few months, these students have worked vigorously to master a variety of services, and this spring, they had the chance to show just how far they’ve come.

As a special for Prom Week, Mrs. Allen opened her classroom to the school, offering salon services at a small fee. Students and staff alike were invited to take part in the pop-up salon experience, receiving everything from brow waxing and tinting to facials, regular and gel manicures, lash extensions, and even hair tinsels.

When asked where the idea came from, Mrs. Allen shared that she wanted to give her students the opportunity to show the skills they’ve been practicing all year while making others feel great about themselves. “We’ve actually had a lot of mothers and grandmothers come in for a service,” she added. The event gave students a real-world opportunity to act as aestheticians, with classmates and staff as their clients.

But the experience didn’t end there.

After Salon Days, the students took their talents on the road once again to Eden Springs Nursing Home. A new group of students joined the trip, where they did a fabulous job with manicures and polishing, but more importantly, showed compassion and care for the residents. They engaged with their clients, listened to stories, and left with a few of their own. The group wrapped up the day with lunch at El Jaliscos, capping off an unforgettable experience.

This week of beauty, both inside and out, was a shining example of what happens when learning, service, and heart come together.
