March 2025 – Medart Elementary proudly celebrated the graduation of 53 fifth-grade students from the L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence) program on Friday, March 7, 2025. The program, led by School Resource Officer Deputy Kyle Hanks, provided students with essential lessons on drug prevention, bullying awareness, and making positive life choices.

Fifth-grade classes taught by Ms. Driggers, Ms. Lawhon, and Ms. DiLorenzo participated in the 10-week curriculum, which encourages students to develop critical decision-making skills and confidence in handling difficult situations. As a final project, each student created either a poster or wrote an essay showcasing what they learned. Awarded student projects included work by Izabella Murphy, Kellie Gwaltney, and Liam Garber.

Wakulla County Superintendent Rick Myhre, Colonel Ray Johnson, Captain Jeffrey Yarbrough, Principal Stan Ward, teachers, and proud family members attended the graduation event.

“This program equips our students with the tools to make smart, healthy choices,” said Principal Stan Ward. “We are grateful to Deputy Hanks, Sheriff Jared Miller, and all our educators for their dedication to student safety and well-being.”

Medart Elementary remains committed to fostering a safe, supportive environment where students can thrive. Congratulations to all their LEAD graduates!
