The wakulla Lady War Eagle basketball team won one game and lost two in the Maclay Holiday Tournament in Tallahassee Jan. 3 through Jan. 5. Wakulla lost to Thomasville Brookwood 45-39 before beating Aucilla Christian 56-42. Chipley beat Wakulla 42-38 in the final game of the tournament. Kiara Gay scored 19 points, had three assists, seven steals and two blocks against Brookwood. Jameiha Maxwell added seven points and three assists. Amanda Henderson had six points, five rebounds and two blocks. Artiguq Kilpatrick scored five points, had six steals and six rebounds. Taylor Eglton had two points. Gay exploded for 28 points against Aucilla and was backed up by Sandi Dunlap's eight points. Kilpatrick chipped in with six while Henderson had four and Maxwell had fice. Taylor Washington had two, Jessica Forest scored two and Terrion Webster had one point. The contest was close until the fourth quarter when Wakulla outscored Aucilla 24-12. Chipley used a strong third quarter to get by the Lady War Eagles. Gay was the high scorer with 11 points for WHS. Dunlap had eight points and Maxwell had fice. Forest chipped in with four and Eglton, Kilpatrick, Henderson and Webster combined for 10 points. Wakulla hosted Maclay on Jan. 7 and Taylor County on Jan. 9. District rival East Gadsden comes to Medart on Jan. 10. Wakulla is 12-5 overall and 4-2 in district contests. |
