Wakulla High School art student won 27 ribbons at this year's North Florida Fair for their submissions. Art teacher Cassie Tucker submitted 25 paintings and seven three-dimensional masks to the fair's Youth Art Contest. "Thinking outside the box, being original and creative as well as problem solving are a few benefits students in art classes gain," Tucker said. WHS art students garnered seven first place awards, including, Justin Morgan for his 3D mask; Lauren Gentry for her self-portrait in acrylic, and for her New Orleans pen-and-ink; Caitlin Culbertson for her oil pastel, "Girl in the Road;" Jeffery Johnson for his self-portrait in pencil; Bailey Russom for "Charlie," pen-and-ink animals; and Rebecca Williams for mixed media "Woman's Face." Students Nadine Tang, Bridget Anne Burke and Jennifer Greene won second place ribbons. Victoria Hamel and Caitlin Culbertson won third place ribbons. |
