SENIORS! the last time for seniors to order
their cap, gown & tassel for graduation will be Tuesday, March 10th during
lunches (11:00 – 12:30). The cost is $30 and must be paid at this time.
The Josten’s
representative will be set up outside of the cafeteria. (Online orders are

High is hosting a Parent Night on February 24th and 26th in the Media
Center from
6:30 – 7:30
pm. Parents and students are invited to attend this informational session
to learn more about Advanced Placement
classes and Dual Enrollment. Additionally, we will introduce a new program
entitled AVID. Parents and students should come to either of these presentations
to get ready for scheduling their students for next year’s classes.
Parents and students will learn what Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual
Enrollment are and who is eligible to sign up for these classes. Participating
in either program is an excellent educational resume addition, and both
programs allow students to earn college credit while still enrolled in
high school. If parents have questions, they may contact Melisa Taylor
at taylorm@wakulla.k12.fl.us.
Operation Prom Dress will be held at the DoubleTree
Hotel (Downtown Tallahassee) Sunday March 8th, 2:00-4:00. Pick out a dress
and shoes- get make-up ideas and a hairstyle too.
Wakulla High Black Culture Club will be hosting
its first program, "Change,
Where Do We Go From Here?" in the auditorium on Saturday, February
28th at 6:00pm. Contact Simeon Nelson at 528-3182 for more information.

Prom Fashion Show: March 19th- See the latest prom
fashions as well as meet with florists, limosine companies, etc. to plan

Congratulations to the WHS Color Guard for making
a Superior at District Competition. Way to Go!
Congratulations Amanda Council! She was chosen as the WHS representative
to participate in the Talquin Youth Tour. She will participate in a two day
conference at
the
state
capitol as well as travel to Washington D.C. This is a great opportunity
for Amanda and it is well deserved.
Local scholarship applications will be available to seniors on Monday February
2, 2009. They will be found on a table outside guidance. If you have any
questions, see your counselor. The deadline to have applications turned
in is March 19, 2009.
Applications for the 2009 Florida State University Young Scholars
Program are now being accepted. The Young Scholars Program
is a residential summer science and mathematics experience for outstanding
students of Florida’s
public and private high schools. This year all applications are available
only online. Interested students should go to 2009 Young Scholars Program

The program continues to be accessible to all highly qualified students,
independent of ability to pay. Applications due March 15, 2009.
