March 30-April 8, 2008
Sunday, March 30th
12:16 PM The group will arrive San Francisco International Airport via Delta Airlines from Atlanta and will be met by the group's CTC tour director at the airline baggage claim.
Upon arrival tour members will board a deluxe motor coach for the five-hour drive through the fertile Central Valley and Sierra Nevada Mountains to Sequoia National Park. Tour members will enjoy a box lunch during the drive.
Upon arrival at Sequoia National Park the group will take a short driving tour of the area, with a stop at the grove of sequoia trees that features the famous General Grant.
The group will then check-in at the Montecito-Sequoia Lodge (telephone 800-549-7100) with time to relax and settle in.
6:45 PM Tonight the group will enjoy a gala welcome dinner at the lodge.
Following dinner the students can enjoy ping-pong, board and card games, and puzzles at the lodge.
Tour members will then get a good night's sleep after this long and exciting day.
Monday, March 31st
7:30-9:00 AM Breakfast at the Montecito-Sequoia Lodge.
9:15 AM The morning and afternoon will be spent exploring Sequoia National Park. A naturalist with the Sequoia Field Institute will accompany the group and lead an educational tour of the area.
12:00-1:30 PM Buffet Lunch back at the lodge.
Upon return to the lodge tour members may want to enjoy some cross country skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, now tubing, or snow shoeing (any fees at individual's own expense).
5:30 PM Dinner at the lodge.
Tuesday, April 1st
7:30-9:00 AM Breakfast at the Montecito-Sequoia Lodge.
9:15 AM This morning, following checkout of the Montecito-Sequoia Lodge the group will tour Kings Canyon National Park with the Sequoia Field Institute naturalist. A box lunch will be provided.
1:00 PM The group will then take the leisurely drive to Yosemite National Park.
Upon arrival at Yosemite in the late afternoon the group will take a driving tour of the scenic valley floor.
6:00 PM Check-in at Curry Village (telephone 209-372-8333).
6:30 PM Tonight the group will dine at the Curry Village Pavilion.
Following dinner the group may want to take a starlight stroll through the valley floor.
Wednesday, April 2nd
7:45-8:45 AM Breakfast at the Curry Village Pavilion.
9:00 AM This morning the group will be joined by park naturalists for a specialized educational tour of Yosemite National Park.
1:00 PM After the tour and time for a quick lunch (on own) the afternoon will be at leisure for hiking, bicycling, or horseback riding (fees for bicycles or horse rentals at own expense).
6:30 PM Tonight the group will dine at the Curry Village Pavilion.
Thursday, April 3rd
7:45-8:45 AM Breakfast at the Curry Village Pavilion.
9:00 AM The group will head to Badger Pass for a day of skiing.
6:30 PM Tonight the group will dine at the Curry Village Pavilion.
Friday, April 4th
7:00-8:45 AM Breakfast at the Curry Village Pavilion.
9:00 AM Following checkout of the Curry Lodge the group will take the long drive back to the San Francisco Bay Area. En-route, a stop will be made at the Jelly Belly Factory.
4:00 PM The drive will conclude at the Holiday Inn Express (telephone 415-409-4600).
6:00 PM This evening the group will take the short walk to the Hard Rock Cafe at Pier 39.
After dinner tour members can view the sea lions and enjoy the specialty shops and attractions at Pier 39 before heading back to the hotel.
Saturday, April 5th
7:00-8:30 AM Continental Breakfast at leisure at the Holiday Inn Express.
8:45 AM The morning will be spent taking a sightseeing tour of San Francisco via motor coach.
12:45 PM The tour will conclude back at the Fisherman's Wharf area.
1:30 PM After lunch (on own) the group will board a ferry for the cruise to Alcatraz, "the Rock."
4:30 PM Upon arrival back at the wharf area the group will head back to the hotel for relax for a while.
6:00 PM Dinner at North Beach Pizza (soup & salad bar, unlimited pizza and pasta).
7:30 PM The rest of the evening is free to explore the waterfront attractions.
Sunday, April 6th
7:00-9:15 AM Continental Breakfast at leisure at the Holiday Inn Express.
9:30 AM Today the group will first visit the Exploratorium, a sensational interactive science museum at the Palace of Fine Arts.
1:00 PM The rest of the afternoon will be spent at the world-class M.H. de Young Museum at Golden Gate Park.
5:00 PM Arrival back at the hotel.
6:00 PM Each member of the group will receive a coupon for dinner at Pier 39.
After dinner the group can take a walking tour through North Beach, the Italian section of the city, to exciting Chinatown.
Monday, April 7th
7:00-7:30 AM Continental Breakfast at leisure at the Holiday Inn Express.
7:45 AM After checkout of the Holiday Inn Express the group will drive south along the beautiful coastal highway to Ano Nuevo State Park.
The group will then take the drive to Felton in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
11:30 AM Upon arrival at Roaring Camp in Felton the group will board an historic steam train for the rail journey through redwood trees.
After the train ride the group will enjoy a barbecue lunch at Roaring Camp.
The rest of the afternoon can be spent enjoying the beach and pier at Santa Cruz.
5:00 PM The group will check-in at the Hampton Inn in Santa Cruz (telephone 1-831-457-8000).
6:00 PM Tonight the group will enjoy a pizza party at one of the restaurants in the area.
Tuesday, April 8th
7:00-8:45 AM Continental Breakfast at leisure at the Hampton Inn.
9:00 AM Following checkout of the hotel the group will take the drive to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula.
10:00-1:00 PM The group will visit the Monterey Aquarium.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent taking the famed 17-Mile Drive and visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea.
5:00 PM A farewell dinner follows at Bubba Gumps at Cannery Row in Monterey.
6:30 PM The group will then drive north through the Salinas Valley and Silicon Valley to San Francisco International Airport.
8:30 PM Arrival at San Francisco International Airport for check-in for the late evening "redeye" flight home via Delta Airlines flight 1476 at 10:35 PM. Bon Voyage.
