Fifth graders participated in the Coastal Optimist sponsored Brain Brawl, SAVE, and the end of the year trip to Busch Garden’s Islands of Adventure.
Fourth and fifth graders participated in the Spelling Bee.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students demonstrated the importance of physical fitness by participating in Jump Rope for Heart, raising over $9000 for the American Heart Association
A team of faculty members and parents participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, representing Crawfordville Elementary in donating over $5000.00 raised by faculty, staff and students.
PTO meetings were held throughout the year. Programs included Open House; the December musical “The Next Noel”, presented by fourth and fifth graders under the direction of Mr. Cooper; guest speaker Dr. Skip Little’s presentation of “How to Make Children Mind Without Losing Yours,” and our first annual science fair. Monthly PTO Council meetings were held to plan and facilitate the Spring Festival and provide parental input regarding school policy and festival fund expenditures.
Faculty, staff and students participated in the annual canned food and toy drive to help families in need during the holidays.
Third grade teacher Kim Bartnick earned Board Certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.
Kindergarten hosted their annual Mother’s Day Tea with over 140 guests in attendance.
The annual Spring Festival raised over $38,000, used for instructional materials and PTO programs.
Mrs. Pat Calhoun was named the Teacher of the Year for Crawfordville Elementary School.
Second graders participated in Earth Day activities with Mrs. Vera Harvey from the County Extension Office.
All students celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a variety of Drug Awareness activities, and our Celebrate Success Field Day.
Orff band under the direction of Mr. Cooper performed and student artwork was displayed by Ms. Brooks at the “celebration of the Arts” gala at Wakulla High School.
Third grade classrooms were transformed into Ancient Civilization Museums.
Students under Mrs. Drigger’s instruction published the Cougar Chronicle school newspaper.
Debi Morgan and Molly Jones were selected as School Level Teachers of the Month.
Grades 3-5 students participated in the second annual Creative Writing Bowl sponsored by Mrs. Driggers and Ms. Brooks.
Julia Pomphrey, Crawfordville Elementary Bus Driver, was recognized by the district as Employee of the Month.
Special Guest, Environmental Musician Grant Livingston, performed for all students for a school-wide Earth Day celebration.
Cougar Cadets were on duty at their posts in the mornings and afternoons to remind students of school safety rules in the hallways.
Special guest Kim Tucker read “The Bearstein Bears and Too Much TC” to first grade students to recognize Turn Off the TV Week in April.
Special guest Kristi Thomas spoke to students regarding “Stranger Danger”.
Students enjoyed a Memorial Day display of veteran soldiers’ jackets from each United States war.
The Seminole Radio Remote Flyers presented a demonstration of remote control airplanes on the playground with K-5 students.
Earned school grade of “A” and achieved Adequate Yearly Progress.
