WMS PERFORMING GROUPS

Symphonic Band – Eighth grade band members

This group has two years of previous band experience and is divided into two classes which meet daily during first or second period. All performances are done as a combination of the two classes.

Concert Band – Seventh grade band members

This group has one year of previous band experience and is divided into two classes which meet daily during third or fourth period. All performances are done as a combination of the two classes.

Beginning Band – Sixth grade band members

This group has no previous experience in band and is divided into two classes which meet daily during sixth or seventh period. All performances are done as a combination of the two classes.

Jazz Band – Seventh and eighth grade band members (by audition)

This group of about twenty meets after school each Monday until 4:00. Students must have prearranged transportation.  The instruments in jazz band include saxophones, trumpets, trombones, electric guitar, bass guitar, drum set, and piano. The students in jazz band must also be a member of the concert or symphonic band. Exceptions might be made for guitar or piano players.

** At this time our school does not have the flexibility to combine students of different grade levels during the regular school day. A seventh or eighth grader can join band with no previous experience with the understanding that they will take private lessons to catch up with their class.
