About the
Director
Laura Hudson came to Wakulla Middle School as a new director in
the fall of 1983. She began her teaching career instructing band,
chorus, and general music but as the program grew, another music
teacher was added to take on the duties of chorus and general music
allowing Mrs. Hudson to give the band program her full attention. She
has since added an after school jazz band program. Sadly, the school
day general music and chorus programs have been discontinued but an
after school chorus program was implemented in 2005. The hope is that
chorus will be added back into the school curriculum in the future.
Mrs. Hudson completed her undergraduate music degree at Jacksonville
State University in Alabama and received her Master’s degree from
Florida State University. Mrs. Hudson became a National Board Certified
teacher in the fall of 2005. In addition to her band classes, Mrs.
Hudson has also served as girl’s basketball coach, yearbook sponsor,
and assistant softball coach. She currently supervises the morning
television broadcast program, works with the accelerated reader reward
program, serves on the discipline committee, and teaches a guitar
exploratory class.
Outside of school, Mrs. Hudson composes music and has produced two CDs
for guitar and voice. She is an active member of the Crawfordville
United Methodist Church where she leads an instrumental ensemble,
serves on leadership committees, and sings in the choir.
Mrs. Hudson is married and has two children.
