Meet the Teachers

Angie Gentry
My name is Angie Gentry.  I teach reading, language, and geography.  I feel that I am lucky to get to teach my favorite subjects!  I attended Crawfordville Elementary School as a child, and graduated from Wakulla High School.  In 1985, I received my degree from Florida State University. In school, I was active in band, newspaper, and drama. I am married with 2 daughters, Lauren (16) and Melissa (11), and one dog named Max.

Lauren Miller
My name is Lauren Miller.  I am excited to teach life science, math, and geography this year. As a child I attended Sopchoppy Elementary, Wakulla Middle, and Wakulla High Schools.  I received my degree from the University of Miami.  While at school, I participated in many sports.  I was active with volleyball, tennis, soccer, softball, and was even on a crew team!  I live with my husband and stepson, Jeffrey, and a 2 year old daughter Isabelle.

Coming together is a beginning;
Keeping together is a progress;
Working together is  success.

Organization

Our school is organized in a very unique way.  As a school we are the Wakulla Wildcats.  Within the school we are organized as teams and each team has a “wildcat” mane.  We are the “Cheetah Team”.  On our team, Mrs. Gentry and Mrs. Miller are the academic teachers.  In addition, each child will have a unified arts teacher and a physical education teacher.  The five academic classes are the first five periods of the day.  U. A. and P. E. are the last two periods.

Attendance

Our school day begins very early.  School begins at 7:35 and dismisses at 2:20.  It is very important that students be on time in the mornings.  Attendance is taken every morning.  If a student is late, he/she must receive a pass from the front office (Mrs. Mitchell) before going to homeroom.  If your child has to be out of school for an entire day, please send in a note or contact us to explain their absence.  Students will be expected to make up work from any missed period and it is their responsibility to obtain the missed assignments.  School Board policy states that students have two days in which to make up the work.

Lunches

All sixth graders eat lunch at the same time.  We have a main line and an al-a-carte line.  Students have approximately 25 minutes to eat.
Homework policy

Yes, there is homework in middle school!  You can expect to see homework Monday through Thursday nights.  There will probably not be homework assigned on Friday, unless there is a project or missing work.  Students will have an assignment sheet in their notebook with homework listed.  This notebook should come home with them each night.  Homework is due on the due date!  Excessive lateness or failure to turn in multiple homework assignments will result in the suspension of Team Time.

Incentives

A Team Time will be set aside each Friday to reward all students that have followed the team guidelines for that week.  This is practically the only free time during the week, so this a powerful incentive for the student.  We also reward students with dances, movies, and PRIDE Paw tickets.

Lockers

Each student will be assigned a locker for the year.  A lock must be purchased from the school for $5.00, and will go on sale on Tuesday.  After the student receives the lock they should memorize the combination, write it in a safe place and practice opening the lock.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.  We are available from 1:30—3:00 each day. Please contact us at  926-7143.
