Shadeville Elementary Teacher Lauralee Mitchell Receives Governor’s Education Shine Award
August 25, 2017
Shadeville Elementary School teacher Lauralee Mitchell received one of Governor Rick Scott’s Education Shine Awards which recognizes teachers and administrators from around the state for their dedication to educating students in Florida.
Mitchell received the Governor’s Shine Award at the August 17 State Cabinet Meeting for her significant contributions to educating the children of Wakulla County. She was one of seven state 2017 Teachers of the Year recognized.
In addition to being selected as the 2017 Wakulla County Teacher of the Year, she also was bestowed the “Magic of Giving Back” award at the Florida Department of Education-Macy’s sponsored state Teacher of the Year gala in July. This honor recognizes teachers who go above and beyond in their classrooms and communities.
Mitchell enters her eighth year of teaching as a first grade teacher at Shadeville Elementary. She has also taught kindergarten and fourth grade Exceptional Student Education inclusion classes.
Notes Superintendent Bobby Pearce, “Lauralee Mitchell is a great representative for the Wakulla County School District. That she earned two additional state awards after being named the 2017 Wakulla County Teacher of the Year speaks to the positive statewide recognition our dedicated educators here deserve.”
