On MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2017 due to the solar eclipse tracked to be at its peak in Wakulla County at 2:42 p.m., there will be a modified public school release schedule.
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and the sun. It is dangerous to look at the sun with the naked eye without special solar eye wear. Medical personnel say those moments before and after the solar eclipse can produce enough light intensity to be harmful to the eye.
For student, staff, and transportation safety, the schedule will be as follows for student release (buses and parent pickup). Parents also may pick up their children at any time during the day.
· 11:30 a.m. - Wakulla Institute (all District programs)
· 12:00 p.m. - Wakulla High School
· 12:20 p.m. - Riversprings Middle School, Wakulla Middle School
· 3:45 p.m. - Wakulla Pre-K
· 4:10 p.m. - Crawfordville Elementary, Medart Elementary,
Riversink Elementary, Shadeville Elementary
