District Accreditation

  • Wakulla County had the first accredited PreK program in the state of Florida.
  • Wakulla County was one of the first school systems in Florida to be fully accredited, Pre-K- 12th grade.
  • Wakulla was the fourth school system and the first rural school system to achieve District Accreditation in the state of Florida.

Wakulla County School District achieved the status of a District Accredited system in 2006. District Accreditation is awarded when a system is proven to have:

  • Met the seven standards of district accreditation
  • Implemented a system of continuous improvement
  • Provided a system of quality assurance, which includes an external review.

The district must assure that all schools adhere to the accreditation standards for quality schools. Every five years the district must also complete a Self-Assessment Report (SAR) with input from all stakeholders. Upon the completion and submission of this report to AdvancED SACS CASI, the district hosts a visit from a Quality Assurance Review Team. The team includes educators from within and outside of Florida. This visit consists of interviews with stakeholders across the district, an in-depth review of processes at the district level, and school visits. At the end of the review, the team shares its recommendation for accreditation status with the School Board.
